Activities: Water & Sanitation
Most of Ethiopia suffers from poor sanitation facilities and some residents do not have access to clean drinking water.
In Arat Kilo, Addis Ababa where overcrowding further aggravates a general lack of sanitation, the community has focused on constructing public pit latrines, showers, and sewage pipelines to reduce the risk of disease. By collecting a fee from all users to maintain the facilities the community has found a sustainable solution to this common problem.
