Children get access to two AKCCCD libraries

Education is a key element in the fight against HIV-AIDS, protection of the environment, gender equality, preventative and curative health, and overall, in people’s conscious and active participation in their development.

Our sponsorship program provides eligible boys and girls in the community with the necessary fees, books, pens, clothing, shoes, soap and medical care in order to actively participate in school activities throughout the year. AKCCCD also provides some educational support to children who are not part of the sponsorship program. Over 1,300 children are currently supported by the sponsorship program.

Eligibility criteria for sponsored children include a demonstrated need, gender equality, and parental commitment.

Young people get the chance to complete their education

Through our child sponsorship program, eligible children in the community are provided with:

  • School fees
  • Books, pens, notebooks
  • School uniforms
  • Access to the resources of two libraries, one in Addis, the other in Chancho town.
